Governor’s Office of Small, Minority & Women Business Affairs Announces Small Business Outreach Effort in Partnership with Maryland Casinos

ANNAPOLIS, MD – The Governor’s Office of Small, Minority & Women Business Affairs today announced multiple small business outreach events in partnership with Maryland’s three biggest casinos scheduled for next month. Beginning May 14th, small business owners and certified Minority Business Enterprise (MBE) firms in Maryland will have the opportunity to learn how to do business with Horseshoe Casino Baltimore, Live Casino and Hotel, and MGM National Harbor.

“Maryland’s casino industry is still growing,” said Jimmy Rhee, special secretary of the Governor’s Office of Small, Minority, and Women Business Affairs. “This is a great opportunity for vendors to learn what they are buying right now, and actually meet with their buyers.”

Maryland’s casinos purchase a diverse range of goods, including uniforms, restaurant and casino furnishings, computer equipment, event decor, and promotional products. Additionally, the casinos utilize a number of services, to include general contracting, landscaping, and snow removal, as well as bus and shuttle charter services.

"We have built some great relationships with the MBE community, and we're eager to work with even more," said Erin Chamberlin, regional president and general manager at Horseshoe Casino Baltimore. "By partnering with the Governor's Office of Small, Minority & Women Business Affairs, we're confident this matchmaking event will connect us to minority and women-owned firms that want to work in Maryland's growing casino industry."

These matchmaking events, which are open to all small business owners, will be held on three consecutive Tuesdays in May. The first will take place at Horseshoe Baltimore Casino on May 14, 2019 from 10:00 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. Interested participants can register for the event here.
